A historic centre to explore on foot, the lake just steps away, and the San Carlone a five-minute drive.
A city with a strong tourist vocation, with a lovely historic centre full of quality shops and a very pleasant lakefront. Fashionable bars, restaurants and ice-cream parlours complete the stroll and liven up the evenings. The art found throughout its churches and old villas is matched by a rich cultural offering, particularly in music.
The hill above Arona is home to one of the oldest and largest statues in the world: the "Colossus of San Carlo", a 5-minute drive from our apartments. For over two centuries it was unmatched in height (35 metres) and construction technique. You can also visit the inside of the statue.
Find out more →On the opposite shore of the lake, Rocca di Angera stands on a rocky outcrop above the village. It's one of Italy's best-preserved medieval fortresses, with frescoes and one of Europe's most important doll museums. It's just a short ferry ride from Arona's lakefront.
A little further north, the Borromean Islands dot Lake Maggiore with Italian-style gardens, historic palaces and views that have made this stretch of the lake famous worldwide. Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori are reachable by boat from Arona and the surrounding towns.
