SAN CARLONE

The hill of Arona gives rise to one of the biggest and ancient statue of the world ‘The colossus of San Carlo’ reachable in 5 minutes’ drive from our apartments. For more than two centuries, it remained unmatched in height (35 meters) and structural technique (copper sheets).  The designer of the Statue of Liberty stayed a while in Arona to study these building techniques.
